Thank you, Best Week Ever

For me, it’s always been Phil Collins.

I don’t know exactly what the Hattiesburgamerican is (besides, apparently, Mississippi’s Entertainment Guide), but I do enjoy their taste in music.
Or at least the voice of God, on the July 18th episode of Comedy Central’s Lil Bush. Didn’t see it? Clips are here.

The video from Rilo Kiley’s forthcoming “Under the Blacklight” is…porn. Or maybe it’s just about porn. Same same.
I just love festival season. Iron&Wine, Sonic Youth and The New Pornographers tore up Pitchfork over the weekend (check out the reviews at You Ain’t No Picasso) Jeff’s Bonnaroo performances are all over YouTube, and Wilco will be performing alongside Bright Eyes and Mudhoney at the second sitting of the Spaziale Festival in Torino, Italy. Next, they move on to Spain for the Benicassim International Music Festival. The lineup includes Amy Winehouse (if she shows), Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon, Rufus Wainwright…and I’m going to go pass out now.
As I’m in Chile, this whole VW/Wilco ad campaign (which features 5 songs off of Sky Blue Sky in a series of commercials, as well as on VW’s website) is news to me. Apparently, I’m not one for associating Wilco’s music with consumerism, but this is a great song (Either Way) and well done commercial:
Check out “You Are My Face” and “The Thanks I Get” ads at Duncan’s TV Ads.

Jeff gave listeners some insight into the recording process of Sky Blue Sky when he sat down with Rita Houston backstage at the Bonnaroo Musical Festival in Manchester, TN. He describes the “effortless” time in the studio as completely collaborative and without dissent:
“There’s a lot myths that surround the idea of things being to easy…for us, I hope that’s the way it is more often.”
The interview was part of Bonnaroo Recap episode of WFUV’s Take Five podcast series (if don’t already subscribe, so so here). The podcast also featured words from Damien Rice and Gillian Welch. Jeff played a solo set at the annual summer festival.
This site is about the band Wilco. Wilco is an American rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 1994 by the remaining members of alternative country group "Uncle Tupelo" following singer Jay Farrar's departure from that group. Wilco's lineup has changed frequently, with only singer Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt remaining from the original incarnation. The other current members are guitarist Nels Cline, multi-instrumentalists Pat Sansone and Mikael Jorgensen, and drummer Glenn Kotche.
